One positive result of the recent MLB lockout is that Opening Day was pushed back to April 7, which is so much better than the originally scheduled date of March 31. Opening the season in March has never felt right, at least here at Uni Watch HQ, but April 7 is perfect (and if it results in a few more doubleheaders being sprinkled throughout the season, as is the case this year, so much the better). If only they could have a slightly season-delaying labor impasse every year.
In any case, the imminent arrival of Opening Day means it’s time for the 24th annual Uni Watch MLB Season Preview, and I don’t mind saying that this is the biggest, most thorough, most info-packed edition yet. In the massive team-by-team rundown that follows, you’ll learn about all of this season’s new uniforms, logos, and patches, plus there’s deep-cut coverage about uni numbers, individual player quirks, stadium design, new equipment, and more. The sections for certain individual teams are long enough to be separate articles by themselves!
